The obscene world of serial pervert Harvey Weinstein, the big-time Hollywood moviemaker and bon vivant, is falling apart.
Now his wife of ten years, Georgia Chapman, has announced she is leaving him.
Is it is possible Chapman, who has two children with Weinstein, didn’t know what he was like?
Did she have no inkling of what he was doing?
Or is her decision to leave him because she knew exactly what he was like?
Or, is this another Steve Paddock scenario where everyone who knew him failed to see anything strange about his behavior before he slaughtered 59 people in a mass murder unlike any other experienced in this nation?
Could Mrs. Weinstein not have known about her husband’s deranged sexual behavior?
Of course she must have known but situations that are fueled with prestige and tons of money are difficult to leave or even to protest, as those allegedly abused by Weinstein are in agreement about.
Since the New York Times unleashed an investigative report revealing Weinstein’s outrageous sexual exploits and his persistent sexual harassment of women in the movie industry, his life appears to be heading in a different direction.
He is now having to endure charges of rape as well as several of the biggest stars in Hollywood claiming he made unnatural and unwanted sexual advances toward them.
Dozens are likely to make such claims — and then all those who make claims will follow with lawsuits.
Of course this is against a backdrop of Hollywood stars like Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie making their claims about Weinstein now that they never felt compelled to make before the NYT’s piece.
This, despite the fact that Weinstein’s perversity was one of the best known and best kept secrets in Hollywood among the Hollywood elite, the press, and even law enforcement officials.
Nearly all his friends have deserted him proving the ages old adage that when a guy is going down, no one wants to go down with him.
“My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these unforgivable actions,” Chapman said. “I have chosen to leave my husband. Caring for my young children is my first priority and I ask the media for privacy at this time.”
Please note: when the going gets tough, the tough get going.
